Day 14 Las Vegas! Casinos, casinos, casinos! 18 April 2016

Time to do the Strip from end to end.  What a sight!  Let’s start with our casino – Excalibur.  Smelly and over deodorised but very cute from the outside.

New York New York

Then there is New York New York.  Despite having just seen the real thing, there was a slight kick in seeing the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building and Chrysler Building again.  It also houses the California Pizza Kitchen which serves up a great dinner.

Coca Cola World

Across the road is Coca Cola World.  Missed by me but he boys sampled everything in sight.

Hard Rock Cafe

I was on the lookout for Elvis memorabilia and found some here.

These cars look old and are hard to take seriously as they mainly look like something out of a movie.

We then came across Flamingos.  Very run down and retro.  Home to Olivia Newton John and Donnie and Marie Osmond concerts.  Also home to some very beautiful real pink flamingos.  See future posts for photos.

The Paris

Next was the Paris.  Only sighted from the outside at this point.

The Venetian

The most spectacular of all was the Venetian with a whole indoor Venice.  The ceiling was painted with clouds and was quite realistic.  The canals are definitely filled with water and gondolas.  Inside and out.

Old town Vegas

Tonight we headed off to the heavily recommended Old Town Vegas.  Very, very, very tacky.  The centrepieces are the Golden Nugget, the biggest LED TV screen (on the roof) and a zip line that runs under it.  We caught a cab there and did a brief and tacky tour of the street, then we caught a cab home.

We put a dollar into the largest slot machine… and got nothing back…
